About FoodsGuider

FoodsGuider is a food travel site. We help you decide what to eat, where to eat it and which food experiences are worth building a trip around, organised by region and country.

Who writes FoodsGuider

Monowar Hossain, FoodsGuider editor

FoodsGuider is written and edited by Monowar Hossain, a linguist from Rajshahi, Bangladesh, who has spent several years living and studying in Europe and has travelled widely across Europe, Asia and the Middle East.

Monowar studied Linguistics and French at the University of Dhaka, Clinical Linguistics at the University of Groningen in the Netherlands, and Psycholinguistics at Ghent University in Belgium. He has taught at Uttara University and Independent University, Bangladesh, taught Spanish, and led multilingual content in English, Spanish, French and Arabic.

That background shapes how we write about food. Eating well abroad is often a language problem: reading a menu, knowing what a dish is called locally, asking what is in it and ordering the way locals do. Our guides try to give you that local vocabulary along with the food.

What you will find here

  • Destination guides to regional dishes, markets, street food and food tours, organised by country.
  • Food experiences such as cooking classes, food festivals and farm stays.
  • Practical food travel tips on budgets, dietary needs, menus and eating on the move.

How we work

We are rebuilding FoodsGuider around fewer, better guides. You can read how we research, write, use sources and photos, and handle corrections in our editorial policy.
